May madness - Princeton's NCAA tournament winning percentage of .778 (28-8) is the best in NCAA tournament history.

More madness - Princeton has won six NCAA championships since 1992.

Semi-tough- Princeton is making its 10th semifinal appearance in the last 13 years.

More Semi-tough - Princeton is 8-1 all-time in NCAA semifinal games.

Last Semi-tough - Princeton, who did not play in the Final Four a year ago, has not missed back-to-back Final Fours since 1990 and 1991.

Working overtime - Princeton, who defeated Maryland 9-8 in overtime last week in the quarterfinals, is 6-1 all-time in NCAA tournament games that have gone overtime.

More overtime - Princeton has won six straight NCAA tournament overtime games since a 14-13 loss to Towson in the 1991 quarterfinals. Princeton is 4-0 in overtime in NCAA championship games.

Close shaves - Princeton has played 36 NCAA tournament games, of which 22 have been decided by one or two goals. Princeton is 19-3 in those 22 games.

More close - Princeton is 7-1 in NCAA tournament games decided by one or two goals since the start of the 2000 tournament.

Last close - Princeton has won eight NCAA tournament games since the start of the 2000 tournament; six of those eight have been by one goal.

Quarterly report - Princeton defeated Maryland 9-8 in overtime in the quarterfinals; the Tigers never led that game by more than one goal at any point and trailed by two with two minutes remaining.

History lesson - Princeton and Navy last met during the 1990 regular season.

More history - Princeton defeated Navy 9-8 in double overtime on March 21, 1990 in the last meeting between the schools. The win over Navy improved Bill Tierney to 11-22 in his Princeton career; since that win, he is 170-35 with six NCAA championships.

Ancient history - Princeton and Navy first played in 1925. The teams met ever year except three from 1934 through 1988.

A league of their own - Princeton has won at least a share of the Ivy League title each of the last 10 years.

More league - Princeton tied Cornell for the Ivy League championship this season.

Last league - Princeton will be the third straight Ivy League opponent in the NCAA tournament for Navy, who defeated Penn in the opening round and Cornell in the quarterfinals.

I'm honored - Princeton's Ryan Boyle is the 2004 Ivy League Player of the Year. Boyle, who also won in 2002, joined Cornell's Eamon McEneaney (1975, 1977) as the only two players ever to be named Ivy League Player of the Year twice.

More honored - Princeton's Peter Trombino is the 2004 Ivy League Rookie of the Year.

Still more honored - Princeton has three first-team All-Ivy League selections (Ryan Boyle, Rickey Schultz, Oliver Barry) and two second-team All-Ivy League selections (Jason Doneger, Drew Casino).

Starting Over - Princeton has rebuilt its team in one year: Princeton's starting lineup, NCAA quarterfinals vs. Syracuse 2003 (graduated players in bold): Attack Ryan Boyle, Jason Doneger, Sean Hartofilis First Midfield Brad Dumont, Owen Daly, Matt Trevenen Defense Brian Lieberman, Damien Davis, Ricky Schultz Longstick Midfield Joe Rosenbaum Shortstick Defensive Midfield Anthony Perna Goalie Julian Gould * Princeton's starting lineup, NCAA semifinal vs. Navy 2004 (first-year starters in bold): Attack Ryan Boyle, Jason Doneger, Peter Trombino First Midfield Whitney Hayes, Drew Casino, Scott Sowanick Defense Tim Sullivan, Ricky Schultz, Oliver Barry Longstick Midfield Zachary Jungers Shortstick Defensive Midfield Dave Willard, Ryan Schoenig, Jared Keating Goalie Dave Law

First time for everything - Of the 32 players who played in Princeton's 12-4 win over Rutgers in the opening round, only eight had ever played in an NCAA tournament game before.

More first time - Of Princeton's 10 starters in this year's NCAA tournament, only three (Ryan Boyle, Ricky Schultz, Jason Doneger) had ever started an NCAA tournament game before.

Last first - Prior to the start of this year's tournament, Ryan Boyle and Jason Doneger had been the only two Princeton players to score a goal in an NCAA tournament game.

Fresh faces - Princeton freshmen Whitney Hayes, Peter Trombino and Scott Sowanick have combined for eight goals and two assists in the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament.

More fresh - Princeton's freshmen have combined to score 50 goals in 14 games; Princeton's freshmen last year combined for one goal, and Princeton's freshmen the year before combined for no goals.

Still more fresh - Freshmen Peter Trombino (34), Scott Sowanick (23) and Whitney Hayes (25) all have at least 20 points this season. The only other time Princeton had three freshmen with at least 20 points in the same season was 1995, when Jesse Hubbard, Chris Massey and Jon Hess all had at least 20.

Still more fresh - Peter Trombino (22-11), Whitney Hayes (11-14) and Scott Sowanick (13-10) are three of eight Princeton freshmen ever to have double figures in goals and assists.

Last fresh - Peter Trombino became the first Princeton freshman ever to score a goal in overtime in the NCAA tournament when he scored 1:42 into OT last weekend against Maryland.

Keeping good company - Peter Trombino, Scott Sowanick and Whitney Hayes have combined for 82 points (47 goals, 35 assists, 5.9 ppg) in 14 games; Jesse Hubbard, Chris Massey and Jon Hess combined for 84 points (56 goals, 28 assists, 5.6 ppg) as freshmen in 1995.

Record label - Peter Trombino is tied with Jesse Hubbard for second place all-time among Princeton freshmen with 23 goals. He needs two to tie B.J. Prager for the Princeton freshman record.

Long in the tooth - Princeton's top two longstick midfielders are freshmen (Zachary Jungers, John Bennett).

Highly defensive- Despite graduating its two-year starting goalie, two four-year starters on close defense, a four-year starter at longstick midfield and the top shortstick defensive midfielder from a year ago, Princeton has allowed fewer goals per game this year (8.14) than last year (8.20).
