Pollster Comments
Middlebury:
New look Panthers gave us a glimpse of what this
season will be like. Balanced and controlled on
offense and very strong on defense. (D-III)
Still don't know much about the Panthers. Next week
will be more informative. (minkhoo) I thought
the win over NEC would be more impressive but still
a solid showing for the first game by Middlebury.
(moty9) Still haven't lost. (valaxfan)
Still No. 1 (waclaxfan) Starting off this
season where they left the last one off - with a
W. (wolverine)
Washington & Lee: Big win and good start.
(3lax40) Great game against the Bullets shows
this team is athletic enough to hang with the elite.
Better not look past the Diplomats. (minkhoo)
Has proven they are the best team early on in the
season with two huge victories!! (moty9)
No doubts here. (Stugotz) Good team, but
are they really that good? (The Professional)
Big win over Gburg but much improvement if they
expect to take the ODAC and make the playoffs. Learn
how Stewart did what he did and be better for next
time; sliding would help. (valaxfan) Still
rising! (waclaxfan) Big early season wins
over Centennial Conference top dogs Gettysburg and
Washington has them looking very good. (wolverine)
Salisbury: Tough offense. (3lax40)
Could run the table with a pretty light schedule
this season. Are they as good as some think? I am
not sold yet. (D-III) Solid win against the
Bishops. (minkhoo) Solid performance so far
this season, taking care of business. (moty9)
Wins first test of the year. (valaxfan) They
beat a tough team. (waclaxfan) Another fast
start for the Gulls. (wolverine)
Whittier: All eyes are on the three games
in four days on the road two weeks from now. (minkhoo)
Still unproven. (Stugotz) Best "O"
in D3? (The Professional) Awaiting Virginia
trip to determine if they are the team some think
they are. (valaxfan) Big road trip looms
ahead. (waclaxfan)
Hampden-Sydney: Good start. (3lax40)
Methodically working through schedule until the
Poet game. (minkhoo) Win at St. Mary's is
good; need to keep it going! (valaxfan) They
keep on winning. (waclaxfan)
Gettysburg: Not a good game for the goalie
(3lax40) A last second loss to W&L doesnıt
not hurt them much in the rankings. They will still
be in the mix all season. (D-III) No break
next week, as resurgent Dragons come to town. The
question is which town - will field be ready? (minkhoo)
Very shaky. (Stugotz) Tough loss to
W&L but didn't do much in the first half to help
themselves. Need to play more team ball and not
1-on-1 so much. (valaxfan) Close loss keeps
them in top 10. (waclaxfan) The key will
be how they can respond in a week where they play
St. Mary's and Cortland. (wolverine)
Ithaca: It will be easier to figure out where
these guys fit after they play somebody. (minkhoo)
Cortland: The real team showed up. Great
game for Feldman, and Estrella might just be the
best close D-man in Div III. (3lax40) Will
the real Cortland State please stand up? Blown out
by St. Lawrence, followed by a blowout of Eastern
Ct. The Gettysburg game may provide an answer. (D-III)
Welcome back, Dragons. (minkhoo) Dismantled
and embarrassed ECSU! Lots of goals from everyone.
Cortland seems to be back on track. (moty9)
Big statement with win over EConn. (Stugotz)
Great win against Easter CT after the StL loss.
(valaxfan) As D-III said [on the Forum],
WOW! (waclaxfan) Rebounded very well from
St. Lawrence loss to smack E. Conn 19-4! (wolverine)
St. Lawrence: Coming back down to Earth over
Elmira. (3lax40) Almost stumbled against
Elmira; they will be looking to avenge the beating
they took from Bowdoin last season. (D-III)
Not quite so impressive against the Eagles. Bowdoin
will be a test. (minkhoo) Not as impressive
of a victory this week but still a win. (moty9)
Two big wins in a row, team on the move.
(valaxfan) Slowly earning respect with a
2-0 record. (wolverine)
Nazareth: Nice win. (3lax40) Makes
a big entrance into my poll this week. Not too sure
how long they will remain, but their win over WAC
was impressive. (D-III) Reports of their
demise seem somewhat premature. (minkhoo)
Shocking victory over the WAC!! Let's see if this
Naz team can prove everyone wrong. (moty9)
Big win over WAC; could be better that we think.
(valaxfan) Nice win over WAC moves them up.
Can they keep on winning? (waclaxfan)
Ohio Wesleyan: Defense is going to be a huge
problem; they are simply not a top-10 caliber team.
The rest of their schedule is a cake walk. Looking
down the road, I see them being 13-1, highly overrated,
and an early round victim in the NCAAıs. (D-III)
Splitting the two tough away games is a pretty
good start. (minkhoo) Played a very tough
Salisbury squad close. (moty9) Terrible first
quarter against SSU but still in the game. Look
for them to play well in conference and contend
for AQ. (valaxfan) Tough loss to a good Salisbury
team. (waclaxfan)
McDaniel: Not too impressive but getting
the job done so far. (D-III) Messiah win
looks better now. (minkhoo)
Bowdoin: Young players stepped up in opener,
and the defense is one of the best in the nation.
Competition level steps up big time with Noke, St.
Lawrence, and Clarkson all next week. (D-III)
Next several games will tell how good these guys
are. (minkhoo) Good win on Sunday. (valaxfan)
Washington College: Ouch. (3lax40)
Needs to find a way to score some goals. (minkhoo)
Two close losses to good teams. Tough way
to start the season. Hopefully the WAC can get their
offense going. (moty9) Two hard fought road
losses; must rebound in conference. (valaxfan)
No offense yet. Going to have win their way back
up. (waclaxfan) Desparately in need of some
consistent offense. (wolverine)
Lynchburg: Big disappointment so far, barely
getting by. (D-III) Winning close games.
Should those games be close? (minkhoo) Fighting
not to lose; big games coming up for the program.
We were going to the game at Fairfax but OH WELL.
(valaxfan) Up one notch this week. (waclaxfan)
Eastern Connecticut: Ran into a team on a
mission. (3lax40) They better figure out
what happened against Cortland quickly, Whittier
looms. Extremely talented team, but they might not
have the coaching to be as big a threat as I originally
considered them to be. (D-III) Welcome back
to Earth, Warriors. (minkhoo) Eastern simply
can't seem to make the jump against the top 10 teams!
(moty9) From Top-10 contender to Top-20 Pretender.
(Stugotz) OH MY GOSH, what happened? My POY
candidate went down in flames. (valaxfan)
Could be the most surprising score of the week:
Cortland 19, E.Conn 4. (wolverine)
Franklin & Marshall: Up and coming team.
(3lax40) Can they break the Centennial skid
in Lexington? (minkhoo) Deserves a top-20
spot after handling Denison. (moty9) Impressive
showing against Denison. (waclaxfan)
Roanoke: Find out this week if they are back!
(The Professional) Wins and still gets no
respect. (valaxfan)
Colby: Mules vs. Panthers? The mascot war
seems one-sided even if the game might not be. (minkhoo)
Geneseo: Nice win over Clarkson. (3lax40)
Rensselaer: A couple of tough ones coming
up. (minkhoo)
Clarkson: Still there. Where's Lewis? (valaxfan)
Amherst: Season begins this week. (D-III)
Virginia Wesleyan: Playing well. (3lax40)
Potsdam: Just because. (minkhoo)
