Championships

England's elite internationals will converge on Manchester
this weekend for a special two-day training camp in
preparation for this year's International Lacrosse Federation
(ILF) European Championships in Prague.
With no games scheduled in the North of England Premier
Division, it is the first full England squad since the
2002 World Championships in Australia.
The camp, at Manchester City's Dome sports complex,
is the first step in the selection process for the Czech
Republic in July. England are expected to take a squad
of 23, plus three reserves.
Dave Elwood, England's head coach, and team managers
Greg Caplin and Ravi Sitlani, have been watching numerous
players at the E-Ball Fast Box Lacrosse League - a huge
success at Timperley since its inauguration in October.
"We've invited around 50 players to come and train
with us, about 10 of whom were involved with the England
Under-19 team which finished fourth at the World Championships,"
said Caplin, who is confident England have a fighting
chance of gold this year.
Domestically, weekend action in Divs 2-5 of the North
of England League will be followed by the Autumn Under-19
Floodlit League final between Stockport, the defending
champions, and hosts Timperley, on Sunday evening.
