87,000 sf indoor sports facility creatively usesGovernment funds

A proposed sports facility in Milton has been awarded a $1.5 million guaranteed loan by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development office. The loan, made to Hudson Valley Domicile through Walden Savings Bank, is part of USDA's Business and Industry Guaranteed Loan programs.

"This is a project with a lot of potential in terms of economic development, tourism and quality of life for area residents," said Congressman Maurice Hinchey. "There is currently no facility like this one for many miles. It should make a great addition to the area."

Hudson Valley Domicile, LLC, is constructing a more than 87,000 square foot air-supported dome in Milton . It will contain four artificial turf fields suitable for indoor soccer, lacrosse, flag football and field hockey. The facility will also include an indoor golf driving range and batting cages. The project will create nine full-time jobs and 15 part-time jobs.

"Right now groups need to travel to facilities as far away as New Jersey or Connecticut for practices and competitions," said Marianne Buccellato-Pizza, of Hudson Valley Domicile.

The facility is expected to open this fall.
