WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Matt Sullivan scored three goals and Troy Turri added two goals and an assist as West Islip beat Shenendehowa (Section II), 12-5, in the Class A boys lacrosse state semifinals on Thursday night at Michie Stadium.

West Islip (22-0) will play two-time defending state champion West Genesee (22-1, Section III) for the title at 4 p.m. Saturday at Hofstra' Stuart Stadium.

Trailing 4-3 at the half, the Lions scored four unanswered in the third quarter for a 7-4 lead. Sal Barcia made nine saves for West Islip.

West Genesee has always been a powerhouse in lacrosse, both boys and girls. The boys beat Farmingdale by a goal for the 2003 state title and Northport by a goal for the 2002 title.

West Islip, which never won a Suffolk title before this season (lost four times in the final), keeps rolling along toward that elusive state title.

Shen (16-5) is the only Section II team to appear in the state semifinals in three straight years. Each time, a Long Island school has removed Shen from the state title picture.
