Basic information about NDP Lacrosse

North Carolina high school players who aspire to play among the elite prep and college players in the USA should be considering participating in the NDP Lacrosse programs that begin this summer.

The cost for initial qualifying participation is $50 per player. All players will have their data inputted into the NDP on-line data base that college coaches will have access to.

The players will play in a series of NDP tournaments. There will be a regional tournament October 14th for four teams.

There will be 64 teams in each age group, divided into four regions North, South, East, and West. There will be two teams form North Carolina. Players must pre-register for an NDP slection camp. Each NDP team will draw players from approximately 30 high school teams. Each age group will participate in local tryouts for each team. In some areas, teams may combine their tryouts. 30 players will make each team. Each team will have a minimum of 10 practices and participate in 3 to 4 tournaments.

In each region the teams will play in Developmental (4 teams) (October 14th in NC), Sectional (8 teams) (in November), and Regional (16 teams) tournaments (June 2005)..

The purpose of the NDP Lacrosse is:

• Identifying, developing and promoting elite level high school lacrosse players.

• Improving the process for the identification of prospects for college lacrosse programs.

• Matching the needs of elite level high school lacrosse players with college lacrosse programs.

• Fostering the growth of lacrosse by providing expanded opportunities for elite level high school lacrosse players and coaches nationwide.

In the USA there are over 80,000 high school lacrosse players. Opportunities for post-high school lacrosse play exist in only 463 college lacrosse programs (Approximately ½ NCAA, ½ College Club). Although not all high school lacrosse players seek to play collegiate lacrosse, the mathmatics equates to 20,000 seniors for 5,000 college slots each year.

One goal of NDP lacrosse is to both help high school lacrosse athletes "be seen: by collegiate coaches, including providing a known cost to families for their athletes to "be seen".

Most players currently "are seen" through an expensive and time consuming series of recruiting summer camps and recruiting services. NDP lacrosse provides an alternative system for enabling high school lacrosse players to "be seen" by college coaches.

Part of NDP's mission os to enable the elite player to be identified through a consistent, comprehensive process modeled after world and professional team evaluation methods. The NDP tournament structure allows the elite player trains with and competes against other players of comparable ability under the direction of college level coaches selected by NDP.

NDP Lacrosse believes its system is structured to be more economical for high school athletes and their families than the current system (see box).

According to NDP Lacrosse many high school players participate in all of the listed services. Many participate in two or more of the same services. If you used NDP to replace some of the services here is a snapshot of what you could save.

Basic NDP Structure

• There will be 64 teams in each age group, divided into four regions North, South, East, and West.

• In each region the teams will play in Developmental (4 teams), Sectional (8 teams), and Regional (16 teams) tournaments.

• The four semi-finalists from each regional tournament will play for the national championship.

NDP Selection Camps

• Each NDP Coach will host a selection camp over 1 or 2 days in August.

• Players will be graded by a team of evaluators selected by the coach.

• Coaches and their evaluators will select their team of 30 using NDP evaluation software.

• Team roster will be submitted to NDP by September 1.

NDP identifies all prospects in every area of the country. By attending 4 days of NDP regional and National Tournaments you get the exposure to all the top prospects that the 43 plus days you are currently spending will never get you. Every day you spend on the road identifying players means less money and time you can spend on recruiting qualified players and developing your current team. We think NDP will save you 39 or more days a year.
