MLL Players
of the Week for Week Four |
 |
MLL Offensive Player of
the Week
Ryan Powell, A 6' 0", 200
In a game dominated by goaltending, Powell
again proved he is an undeniable offensive
force. He had a hand in half of Rochester’s
points, scoring four times and setting up
three more. His seven points led all MLL scorers
in Week Four and earned him MLL Offensive
Player of the Week honors for the second time
this year. Powell has scored no less than
seven points in any of his three games this
year, and he’s now second in the league
in scoring with 24 points. |
 |
MLL Defensive Player of
the Week Greg Cattrano (PHI),
G, 5'9", 186
When the Barrage traded the first pick in
the 2004 Collegiate Draft for Cattrano in
the off-season, they knew he’d be a
difference maker. Cattrano proved to be just
that in Week Four, making 22 saves to earn
Philadelphia’s first victory of the
season. He made an early lead stand up and
withheld a furious New Jersey charge in the
fourth quarter. |
 |
Cascade MLL Rookie of the
Week Tillman Johnson (ROC),
G, 6'1", 200
College goalies tend to struggle early on
in the MLL—but no one bothered to tell
Johnson. Making his pro debut after being
selected third overall in the Collegiate Draft,
he made 22 saves and snapped Rochester’s
nine-game losing streak against the Bayhawks.
Johnson held the potent Baltimore offense
(22.7 points per game entering the game) to
just 14 points. |

MLL
Players of the Week Week Three |
 |
MLL Offensive
Player of the Week
Jesse Hubbard (NJ), A, 6'1", 193
The Pride went west and lost a close game
against Baltimore, but Hubbard wasn’t
to blame. The MLL’s all-time leader
in goals and hat tricks upped his totals with
a six-goal effort on Saturday, including a
pair of two-point tallies. He added an assist
for nine points, one more than he registered
in the fi rst two games of the season. The
outburst moved Hubbard into a tie for third
in the league scoring race (17 points) and
left him alone in second with 13 goals. |
 |
MLL Defensive Player of the Week
Brian Dougherty (LI), G, 6'1", 200
Dougherty made 21 saves and held the Barrage
to an MLL season-low 12 goals in Sunday’s
win in Philadelphia. The Lizards took a 5-1
fi rst quarter lead thanks to a ten-minute
shutout streak by Dougherty, then took the
lead back when the Long Island netminder kept
Philly off the board for more than 14 minutes
towards the game’s end. |
 |
Cascade MLL Rookie of the Week
Chris Passavia (BOS), D, 6'1", 210
Just two days after becoming Boston’s
fi rst pick in the Collegiate Draft, Passavia
found himself covering one of the game’s
greats, Casey Powell. His punishing defense
limited Powell’s effectiveness and helped
Boston to their third straight win. |

"We wanted to address our needs and we did,"
said Gage. "We added goalies Tillman Johnson
and Tony Russo and strengthened our midfield with
the addition of three players from Syracuse’s

MLL Offensive
Player of the Week |
Tim Goettlemann (LI),
A, 6'3", 217
When the Lizards jumped out to an 8-6 lead
in the first quarter, it was on the strength
of Goettelmann’s four goals and an assist.
And when Long Island was down in the fourth,
Goettelmann’s sixth goal stole the lead
and tied the game. His game total of six goals
and one assist should come as no surprise
to New Jersey; on August 10, 2003, Goettelmann
set an MLL record when he netted nine goals
against the Pride. |
 |
MLL Defensive Player of
the Week |
Jake Coon (ROC), G, 5’10”,
197
Coon’s return to the lineup paid immediate
dividends for the Rattlers, who won their
first game of the season in Week Two on the
strength of his 16 saves. Coon’s performance
gave Rochester much-needed stability in goal,
where a tandem of stoppers gave up five two-point
goals and 24 total points in a Week One loss
to Baltimore. |
