RATTLERS ACQUIRE PENFIELD NATIVE BRENT
ROTHFUSS & GAVIN PROUT FROM BOSTON

(Rochester, NY)… Rochester Rattlers General Manager
Jody Gage announced today that the Rattlers have acquired
midfielder Brent Rothfuss and the rights to attackman
Gavin Prout from the Boston Cannons in exchange for
Pat Myers and a fourth-round pick in the 2005 Major
League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft.
The deal allows Rothfuss, a Penfield, NY, native, a
chance to play for the hometown Rattlers. The 6-0, 195-pound
midfielder has spent the last two seasons with the Cannons.
In his career, he has registered 31 goals, three assists
and 34 points in 27 games.
Rothfuss played his college lacrosse at Nazareth College
and was a three-time All-American. He was the 1997 Division
III Player of the Year and Midfielder of the Year. He
also won Midfielder of the Year in 1996. During his
career with the Golden Flyers, Nazareth won national
championships in 1996 and 1997.
The 29 year old returns to the city where he began
his National Lacrosse league career. Rothfuss played
for the Rochester Knighthawks in 1998 and 1999 and recorded
four points (3+1) in four games. He also spent time
with the Buffalo Bandits and Columbus Landsharks.
Rochester also received the rights to attackman Gavin
Prout. The forward lives in Toronto and has been playing
with the Brooklin Redmen of the Ontario Lacrosse Association.
He currently leads the Canadian senior box lacrosse
league with 40 points (15+25) in five games. This past
season in the National Lacrosse League, he finished
third in the league with 91 points (34+57) in 16 games
with the Colorado Mammoth. He earned Second Team All-Pro
honors in the process. In addition, he earned All-Rookie
Team accolades in 2001-02.
Prout played his college lacrosse at Mercyhurst College,
Gannon University and Loyola College. He was a Division
I First Team All-American in 2001 with the Loyola College
Greyhounds and a Third Team selection in 2000.
For Rothfuss and Prout, the Rattlers dealt rookie Pat
Myers (Ohio State) to the Cannons. Myers played in one
game this season with Rochester and notched one goal
and one assist on May 22nd.
In college, he was a two-time All-Great Western Lacrosse
League honoree, including a first team choice as a senior.
The 2000 GWLL Rookie of the Year (an Ohio State first)
ended his Buckeye career with 61 goals, 28 assists and
89 points.
Rochester travels to play the 2-1 Baltimore Bayhawks
on Sunday, June 13th at 4:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast
