June 17, 2004

The Rochester Rattlers (2-2) return home to face the New Jersey Pride (1-3) on Friday, June 18th. The game will be broadcast live on News Talk 950 WROC-AM and webcast at SportsJuice.com.
The Rattlers are coming off of an impressive 14-12 road win against the Baltimore Bayhawks on June 13th. The Rattlers were led by Ryan Powell who scored four goals and added three assists (4+3). A.J. Shannon and rookie Sean Lindsay also chipped in two goals and one assist apiece. Penfield native Brent Rothfuss registered two goals in his Rattlers debut. Rookie goaltender Tillman Johnson made 22 saves in his professional debut to lead Rochester in breaking an eight-game losing streak to Baltimore.

The Pride are coming off of a 15-12 loss to the Philadelphia Barrage on June 12th. After defeating the Barrage on May 22nd in their season opener, the Pride have lost three straight games. Last season the Pride swept the season series with the Rattlers 2-0. Rochester still leads the all-time series 6-4. Rattlers forward Ryan Powell is now second in the MLL in points with 24 (14+10). The Rattlers are also second in the league in goals-against with 64.

Pride forward Jesse Hubbard continues to be one of the most prolific scorers in MLL history. Hubbard, the MLL’s all-time leading goal scorer (148), is tied for the league lead in goals with 16 and two-point goals (3). Hubbard has scored at least three goals in each game this season. Hubbard has picked up a hat trick in 30 of 44 career games, which is also tops in league history.

The contest will also mark the return of former Rattler and 2003 Cascade Rookie of the Year, Adam Doneger to Rochester. Doneger was traded to the Pride in May, along with Chris Malone and the Rattlers’ second round pick (8th overall) in the 2004 Collegiate Draft, in exchange for midfielder A.J. Shannon and New Jersey’s first round (4th overall-Sean Lindsay) and third round (16th overall- Kevin Dougherty) picks in the 2004 draft.
