Bridgeport's Matt Hunter on the toughest
shot for a goaliee
July 27, 2003
from majorleaguelacrosse.com
As a goalie, I find that the hardest shot to save for
me is the off-stick hip shots. The reasoning for this
is that while the shot is coming at me, I find it hard
to decide whether I want to make the save by coming across
my body with my stick or to come across my face with my
stick.
I would suggest that you learn how to shoot to the
off-stick side of the goalie. All goalies are weak to
their off-stick side. Before a game, look at what hand
the goalie is and practice shooting to his off-stick
side. When the game starts you already have a feel on
were you want to put your shot.
Remember that your shot does not have to be the hardest
shot on the field. As long as you can place the shot
where the goalie is not and where you want it to go,
you will score more goals.
Good Luck,
HUNTER
