Jesse Hubbard's favorite shot
July 27, 2003
from majorleaguelacrosse.com
My favorite type of shot is one that scores. Seriously
though, I like to mix up my shots so that the goalie can't
anticipate when or where I'm shooting. Having the full
arsenal of shots with both hands--whether overhand, sidearm,
or underhand--is the goal of any serious shooter.
That being said, my overhand shot is probably the most
accurate and effective. An overhand shot that is aimed
off the goalie's hip is very effective at every level.
Don't necessarily aim for the utmost corner of the goal,
because you won't have much room for error. Sidearm
and underhand shots can be more effective at deceiving
the goalie, but accuracy is usually sacrificed when
you drop your top arm down.
Make sure you can consistently hit the cage before
shooting sidearm or underhand in games. However you
shoot, do it like you expect to score. Goalies can sense
a hesitant shooter.
