COACHES EDUCATION LEVEL 1 ONLINE COURSE TO LAUNCH IN APRIL
Feb 3, 2004

After more than a year’s worth of hard work by the US Lacrosse Coaches Education Committee, the Level 1 girls’ and boys’ interactive online coaches education courses are planned to launch by April 1, 2004. Level 1, the first of three levels in development through 2005, is targeted at coaches who may have little or no experience in either lacrosse or coaching or both, who are working with youth and/or beginning players. This level offers instruction regarding a positive coaching philosophy, basic player safety and risk management responsibilities, strategies for teaching skills and tactics and for working with youth and/or beginning players, and season planning. To complement the online courses, Level 1 regional in-person clinics will begin to be offered in the fall of 2004, piloted in collaboration with 3-5 US Lacrosse chapters for the first season. Though developed for coaches, the online and in-person courses will serve as excellent educational resources for anyone interested in learning more about lacrosse. Those with questions or who are interested in being a “test coach” in early March should contact Katherine Clark, Associate Director of Programs, at programs@uslacrosse.org.
