Youth "Game Termination" Rule
for Fan Behavior September 26, 2003
from a LaxPower.com report
According to a member of the board, "the US Lacrosse
Youth Council has approved a Boys' Youth Rules addendum,
recommended for 2004 and to be implemented for 2005,
which involves several initiatives aimed at flagrant
unsportsmanlike conduct from spectators and fans at
youth lacrosse contests. New guidelines include encouraging
each team to provide a "Site Manager" to help
mitigate sideline misbehavior, an "Auxiliary Official"
initiative to provide trained adults to assist on the
field in the event one or both officials don't show,
and a "Game Termination" rule that will allow
an official to terminate a game for flagrant off-the-field
behavior by a fan or spectator. Mechanics are being
developed for the 2005 implementation of these initiatives.
These guidelines will ONLY apply at the boys' youth
level of the game (8th grade and under) and will appear
in the 2004 NFHS Rule Book as a youth rules addendum."
